Nakshatra compatibility

Ashlesha and Bharani

Nakshatra Compatibility

A Nakshatra (lunar mansion or birth star) is one of 27 divisions used to locate the Moon at birth. This birth star compatibility page shows the complete four-factor result for Ashlesha and Bharani, free.

Nakshatra-only subtotal

12.5 to 14.5 / 21

Four factors under the declared Anantrix convention. This is not the full 36-point Guna Milan (eight-factor matching score).

The range reflects the two traditional Gana (temperament group) role orientations only.

Ashlesha and Bharani have a Nakshatra-only subtotal of 12.5 to 14.5/21 under the declared Anantrix convention. Tara (star relationship) contributes 1.5/3; Yoni (animal-symbol relationship) is neutral, giving 2/4. Gana (temperament group) varies from 1/6 to 3/6 with traditional roles, accounting for the subtotal range. Different Nadi (constitutional groups) contributes the full 8/8. This four-factor subtotal is not the full 36-point Guna Milan (eight-factor matching score) and cannot decide a marriage.

The four birth-star factors

Tara (star relationship)

1.5 / 3

Tara (star relationship) counts inclusively from each birth star to the other in a nine-step cycle. Ashlesha to Bharani: count 21, remainder 3, Vipat (difficulty), unfavorable. Bharani to Ashlesha: count 8, remainder 8, Mitra (friendship), favorable. Anantrix treats remainders 3, 5, and 7 as unfavorable; each favorable direction contributes 1.5 points. A zero remainder is shown as 9. Janma (birth-star relationship) treatment varies by tradition.

Yoni (traditional animal symbol)

2 / 4

  • Ashlesha: Cat (male animal symbol)
  • Bharani: Elephant (male animal symbol)

Yoni (traditional animal-symbol relationship) is a symbolic measure of instinct and intimacy. Cat and Elephant are neutral in the selected table, giving 2/4 points. Ashlesha carries the male animal symbol and Bharani the male symbol; this traditional animal sex is separate from the matrix score and from a person's gender. This is not a biological or sexual diagnosis.

Gana (temperament group)

1 to 3 / 6

Ashlesha: Rakshasa (intense, forceful, or independent group). Bharani: Manushya (human group).

  • Ashlesha as traditional groom; Bharani as traditional bride: 3 / 6
  • Bharani as traditional groom; Ashlesha as traditional bride: 1 / 6

Gana (temperament group) compares Rakshasa and Manushya. With Ashlesha in the traditional groom role and Bharani in the bride role, the score is 3/6; reversing the roles gives 1/6. The original framework is gendered and does not provide a separate classical rule for every modern relationship structure. No role is assigned to either person here. Rakshasa is the traditional name for an intense, forceful, or independent temperament group. It does not mean the person is evil.

Nadi (traditional constitutional group)

8 / 8

Ashlesha: Antya (final group). Bharani: Madhya (middle group).

Nadi (traditional constitutional group) is associated in tradition with constitution and family continuity. The stars have different groups, Antya and Madhya, giving the standard 8/8 points. This is not a medical, fertility, or genetic assessment.

What two birth stars can tell you

These four factors describe traditional star relationships. This page does not use exact Moon signs, padas (quarters of a birth star), Mangal (Mars) placement, the seventh house (the partnership area of a birth chart), or planetary periods (timing cycles in a birth chart). Birth details are needed for the remaining four matching factors and any position-dependent exceptions. A subtotal alone cannot establish how a relationship will develop or decide whether two people should marry.

Calculate all eight factors for free

The complete four-factor result above stays free. For Kundli matching (birth-chart matching), the free exact calculator uses both people's birth date, time and place to calculate all eight factors out of 36.

How this result is calculated

Selected convention: Anantrix Nakshatra-only matching. Nakshatra means a lunar mansion or birth star. The four factors total at most 21 points; full Ashtakoota (eight-factor matching) totals 36 and needs birth details.

Yoni uses Anantrix's selected complete symmetric table. Some traditional tables differ in a small number of directional pairings, so this result does not claim universal agreement.

The preserved Anantrix Gana table uses the groom's group as the row and the bride's group as the column. Both orientations are shown. Subtotal bounds reflect only that directional difference; they do not incorporate alternate Tara conventions or possible Nadi cancellations.

The Anantrix Tara convention awards 1.5 points per direction except for remainders 3, 5, and 7. Two Janma directions receive 3 points here; traditions that treat Janma as unfavorable give 0. Same-star readings therefore vary by convention.

Same Nadi receives a provisional zero. No cancellation requiring Moon sign or pada (quarter of a birth star) is applied without exact birth data.

Check the arithmetic for this pair

With Ashlesha in the traditional groom role, add Tara 1.5, Yoni 2, Gana 3 and Nadi 8. Reverse the roles and the Gana contribution becomes 1; the other three contributions stay the same under this convention. The possible totals are shown above. These numbers measure agreement with this matching table, not a probability that a relationship will succeed.

Use the result as a conversation starter

Confirm both birth stars first. If the birth time is unknown, check whether the Moon crossed a star boundary that day. Read each factor's explanation before the subtotal. Then discuss practical questions: how you handle disagreement, family expectations, money and personal boundaries. A shared birth-star label cannot answer those questions for either person.

A little more clarity

Questions, answered.

What does the Nakshatra-only subtotal for Ashlesha and Bharani mean?

Why can Gana have two scores?

Gana (temperament group) compares Rakshasa and Manushya. With Ashlesha in the traditional groom role and Bharani in the bride role, the score is 3/6; reversing the roles gives 1/6. The original framework is gendered and does not provide a separate classical rule for every modern relationship structure. No role is assigned to either person here. Rakshasa is the traditional name for an intense, forceful, or independent temperament group. It does not mean the person is evil.

Is this the full 36-point match?

This page shows the complete four-factor result available from the two birth stars, worth up to 21 points. The free exact calculator uses both people's birth date, time and place to calculate all eight factors out of 36 in Ashtakoota (eight-factor matching), also called Guna Milan. Neither score can decide a marriage.

Is Nadi a medical or fertility result?

Nadi (traditional constitutional group) is associated in tradition with constitution and family continuity. The stars have different groups, Antya and Madhya, giving the standard 8/8 points. This is not a medical, fertility, or genetic assessment.

Can a same-star result change with the birth-star quarter or tradition?

Yes. This convention gives two Janma (birth-star relationship) directions 3 Tara points; a tradition that treats Janma as unfavorable gives 0. Same Nadi starts at a provisional 0, and a cancellation (an exception that removes the traditional concern) may depend on the Moon sign or pada (quarter of a birth star). No cancellation is applied from star names alone. Any displayed subtotal range covers only the two Gana role orientations, not these possible changes.

What should I use if I know only our birth-star names?

Start with the birth-star comparison and keep its limited scope in view. It cannot recover missing birth times, Moon degrees or a complete two-chart reading. For a fuller calculated comparison, use both people's birth details and note any uncertainty.

Can a high matching score replace getting to know each other?

No. The score summarises selected traditional factors. It does not measure consent, honesty, emotional safety or shared plans. Use any useful questions from the comparison in real conversations and give actual behaviour its proper weight.
