Three birth details determine the calculation.
Your birth date sets the planetary positions. Your birth time and place establish the local horizon, which is needed for the rising sign and houses.
Birth time
The clock time used for the ascendant and house boundaries. Even a modest difference can change time-sensitive placements.
Birth place
The city provides latitude, longitude and local timezone, including historical clock rules where available.

Birth-time confidence

An exact birth time supports the ascendant and houses. If time is unknown, the public Moon-sign calculator checks possible Moon placements across the birth day. Check the inputs before reading the chart
Use the time written in the birth record, the actual birthplace and the correct local date. A chart can look detailed while still using the wrong timezone. If the time is uncertain, say so. A placeholder time cannot establish your rising sign. Our sample shows how a small time change affects the calculated chart.

Questions, answered.
Do I enter my birth time or convert it to today's timezone?
Enter the local clock time recorded at your birthplace on your birth date. Select the birthplace carefully so its historical timezone can be used. Do not replace that time with your current city's time or make a second conversion yourself.
Why can two correct birth charts look different?
Compare the same birth details, timezone, zodiac and house system first. Ayanamsa is the offset used for a sidereal zodiac; different choices can change degrees and boundary placements. A different chart layout may also show the same placements in another format.
What should I do if my birth time is only a family estimate?
Keep the estimate labelled as approximate. A few minutes can matter near a rising-sign or divisional-chart boundary, while some other placements may stay the same. Avoid treating an exact-looking chart as proof that the time has been confirmed.
