June 2026 transits: a look back

An archived June 2026 transit guide with corrected Lahiri sidereal dates in Indian Standard Time, clear definitions, and limits of personal interpretation.

What the dates measure

A transit [gochara] is a planet’s changing position compared with a chart or zodiac reference. A sign ingress is the moment its longitude crosses a 30° sign boundary. The dates below use geocentric positions [seen from Earth] and Indian Standard Time, Asia/Kolkata, UTC+05:30. A date can be different in another time zone.

Principal sign changes and station in June

  • 2 June: Jupiter enters Cancer.
  • 8 June: Venus enters Cancer.
  • 15 June: the Sun enters Gemini.
  • 20 June: Mars enters Taurus late in the IST evening.
  • 22 June: Mercury enters Cancer.
  • 29 June: Mercury’s apparent motion changes from direct to retrograde late in the IST evening. Saturn has no sign change during June.

These are day-level estimates from the site’s calculation model, not an independently certified almanac. Ingresses were found by checking changing sign positions and narrowing each crossing. The Mercury station uses the engine’s centred daily-motion estimate. An exact ritual time needs a separately checked ephemeris and the same calculation settings.

The Moon’s faster sequence

  • 1 June Sagittarius; 4 June Capricorn; 6 June Aquarius; 9 June Pisces.
  • 11 June Aries; 13 June Taurus; 15 June Gemini; 17 June Cancer.
  • 19 June Leo; 21 June Virgo; 24 June Libra; 26 June Scorpio; 29 June Sagittarius.

“Exaltation” [uchcha, a traditional dignity] describes an astrological classification. The Moon entering Taurus is not a measured rise in a physical or spiritual energy, and entering Scorpio does not establish a mental-health risk. A sign-level dignity and the exact degree traditionally assigned to maximum exaltation are also different ideas.

A date comparison you can reproduce

Jupiter’s calculated Cancer crossing illustrates why the time zone is essential. In this model it occurs at about 19:38 UTC on 1 June, which is about 01:08 IST on 2 June. Those are the same instant, not two competing transits. The minute is an estimate from this model; the published list deliberately gives only the local date.

A different problem occurs when a calendar labels a tropical sign entry as sidereal. Converting its time zone will not repair the zodiac mismatch. First compare the event type, then the zodiac and ayanamsha, then the time zone. Only after those match is it useful to investigate smaller differences between ephemerides [tables or models of astronomical positions].

Why a monthly list is not a personal forecast

The Moon makes many sign entries in one month, while Saturn may make none. Counting more events does not make that planet more important for every reader. Likewise, Jupiter entering a traditionally exalted sign supplies a dignity label, not a forecast that everyone will gain money or receive a promotion. A personal interpretation would need a stated chart reference and additional assumptions.

This revised archive covers 1–30 June in IST. It does not mix July events into “June” or describe past dates as upcoming. When saving a forecast for later, keep its date range and settings beside the event list; that makes it possible to review what was calculated without quietly changing the meaning after the month has passed.

How to connect a transit to a chart

First identify the chart reference. In a fictional whole-sign chart [one sign per house] with Gemini rising, Gemini is the first house. With Pisces rising, Gemini is the fourth. The same Sun ingress therefore has a different house label. That geometric difference is verifiable; claims about the events it will cause remain traditional interpretation.

Use this archive to learn the sequence and compare a calendar’s settings. For work, relationships, or travel, keep ordinary evidence in view: deadlines, consent, availability, costs, and preparation. A transit date alone cannot select a successful decision or explain everything that happened that month.

Questions you may have

Are these tropical or sidereal transit dates?

They use the Lahiri sidereal zodiac and Asia/Kolkata time, UTC+05:30. A tropical calendar or another time zone can show different sign-entry dates.

Does Mercury retrograde mean Mercury physically reverses its orbit?

No. Retrograde describes apparent motion in Earth’s sky. It does not mean the planet reverses its orbit around the Sun.
