Sun in Cancer: the Vedic interpretation
Cancer is ruled by the Moon. Traditional interpretation relates this Sun placement to belonging, care and the personal foundations from which someone acts. The Moon's placement matters when reading the Sun in Cancer, so two Cancer Sun charts can tell quite different stories.
A Cancer Sun is not the same placement as a Cancer Moon. The sign name is shared, but the body being interpreted is different.

Surya Rashi (the Sun's zodiac sign) is separate from Janma Rashi (usually the Moon's sign at birth). This page concerns the Sun. Our Cancer daily horoscope instead uses the sidereal Moon sign.
Our full birth chart uses Lahiri ayanamsa (the offset between tropical and sidereal positions). Birth year and time can matter near a sign boundary. A birthday range alone cannot confirm a Vedic Sun sign.
